ANW Facilitates LETRS Professional Development

ANW has a standing commitment to train staff working with students with dyslexia and writing difficulties. ANW Staff are trained to facilitate LETRS Early Childhood and LETRS Volume I and II.

LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) is professional development providing teachers skills needed to master the fundamentals of reading instruction - phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing and language. LETRS (3rd Edition) is an online professional development experience designed to be supported by a facilitator throughout the course.

LETRS is a self-directed training that includes an online course, reading, bridge-to-practice activities and after-unit training sessions lead by a Certified LETRS Facilitator.   ANW requires teachers and staff to attend.

If you want to take a LETRS Course (LETRS for Early Childhood Educators/LETRS Units 1-4/LETRS Units 5-8) but are in a district that doesn't have a Certified LETRS Facilitator to provide you support, ANW will help. These support sessions are provided free of charge and led by Certified ANW LETRS Facilitators. Cohorts begin in September of each year and run through April.

Ongoing support from ANW Facilitators

ANW Facilitators are available to provide support in assessment, interventions, working with the MTSS model and Student Improvement Teams, and progress monitoring in all areas of reading.

Participants in LETRS will be trained two days a month at the ANW Coop Central Office for each Unit.  The group will have the opportunity for content discussion and to work together to complete the course.

In addition to the 2 days of unit training each month,  facilitators will review Bridge to Practice LETRS Unit Activities completed by participants.  Participants will meet to present case studies and reflect on their teaching practices.
